Job Classification: Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic
The Colorado Springs Fire Department is currently developing an entry-level hiring list for an anticipated fire academy in June 2025 for the position of Trainee Firefighter/Paramedic.
Candidates must complete the FireTEAM test by February 3, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. via the National Testing Network. CSFD does not require the PSSA Part 1 or 2
It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure their NTN score is valid when the hiring list is pulled on February 3rd, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification and current National Registry EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P) or State of Colorado Paramedic certification must be uploaded to the department by February 3, 2025, by 11:59 p.m.
Even if you upload certifications to the NTN, you still need to upload them to our department’s website.

Department Overview: The Colorado Springs Fire Department, an internationally accredited department, has 24 fire stations and over 500 full time uniformed firefighters. The department has 24 engine companies, 6 truck companies, a heavy rescue team, and a hazardous materials response team. Fire stations are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department responded to over 80,000 calls in 2022 and approximately 70% of those are medical emergencies.
City Information: The City of Colorado Springs is located in south-central Colorado between the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and the eastern plains of Colorado. The city is approximately 195 square miles, and the elevation is 6,035 feet with an estimated 2022 population of 500,000.
Firefighter Paramedic Candidate Minimum Qualifications: The following minimum qualifications must be met to participate in the firefighter selection process.
