Classification: Police Communications Dispatcher
The City of Avondale is accepting Entry-level applications for the position of Police Communications Dispatcher assigned to the Avondale Police Department. This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position, with benefits. Applications will accepted continuously.
You must complete a City of Avondale Application and testing through National Testing Network to be considered further in the process.
This position answers 9-1-1 emergency calls for police, fire, or medical emergencies; obtains accurate, essential information to process each call according to established protocols; uses a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to enter all relevant information for dispatch; dispatches calls and information to police units via a mobile radio system; maintains an accurate status and location of police units, maintains a computerized log of calls for service and units dispatched; monitors city security and fire alarm systems received through alarm system and dispatches emergency units as appropriate. ENTRY-LEVEL: For Entry-level candidates, you must register for the National Testing Network's Emergency Communications Test. If you have taken the Emergency Communications Test within the last twelve (12) months and received passing scores (Call taker 53, Notes 64, Dispatch 43), contact the National Testing Network directly at 1-855-821-3761 or www.nationaltestingnetwork.com to have those scores submitted to the City of Avondale job opportunity. Candidates must also complete the Typing Test with a score of 40 WPM and the Public Safety Self Assessments (PSSA) in their NTN candidate account.
Applicants are responsible for the cost of the test unless a waiver is submitted through the National Testing Network
Salary Information: $22.11 - $32.04 Hourly
