Snohomish County Fire District #4 is seeking to establish a hiring list for the position of Entry Level Firefighter / EMT! All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network to be considered further in the hiring process. District #4 is anticipating adding up to 16 new positions over the next 60 months. District #4 will pull scores on August 23, 2024 for a hiring round in the fall of 2024. If selected for consideration, District #4 will provide, and Candidates must complete and submit the District’s Employment Application and letter of interest.
Salary Information: FF/EMT-Entry Level pay range (2024) $7100.00 - $9218.00 (2024) Additional monthly pay available for approved degrees and certificates. Additional promotional opportunities can increase pay.

Department Overview: Nestled just east of Everett, SCFD4 lies in the heart of Snohomish County. With a great group of company officers, and a combination of full-time and part-time FF/EMT’s and FF/Paramedics, and the support of an outstanding command and administrative staff, SCFD4 responds to all-hazards and emergency calls within a 60-square mile area. Having two rivers, 6 lakes, two highways, main East/West railroad tracks, a small airport, and both vibrant city and rural areas, SCFD4 offers a fun, exciting, and fast-paced work environment. Operations staff at SCFD4 respond to structure fires, rescues, hazardous materials calls, wildland fires, and transport all ALS and BLS medical emergencies. Firefighters enjoy working on engines, brush trucks, ambulances, and tender. SCFD4 offers a team-oriented environment and great training opportunities in a growing department with expanding opportunities. Job Requirements
Age : 18 years or older at time of interview
Citizenship Required : MUST BE ABLE TO BE LEGALLY EMPLOYED IN THE UNITED STATES.
High School Grad/GED : Yes
Valid WASHINGTON Driver's License : Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English : Yes
Vision : Ability to pass Full Time Firefighter Medical Exam.
College : Step pay for qualifying degrees and tuition reimbursement.
Academy Certification : Fire Academy desired but not required
Necessary Certifications : Current Washington State and/or National Registry EMT-B Certification.
Additional Requirements : Must attend the first available Approved Fire Academy after hiring as determined by the District.
Hiring Process : National Testing Network written test, selected applicants will complete and submit a Fire District 4 application, Oral Interview, Chiefs Interview. Must have successfully passed Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) within six (6) months prior to September 22, 2024.

GENERAL DUTIES :
· Attend assigned shifts promptly
· Follow safe workplace practices and obey safety rules
· Ensure safekeeping and proper care of fire department property
· In absence of superior officers must be able to carry out duties with good judgement.
· Follow established routines for station maintenance
· Accurately document activities using data processing skills
· Perform troubleshooting, testing, replacement and minor repairs on district apparatus. Report need for extensive maintenance.
· Perform general building and grounds upkeep
· Other duties as assigned
TRAINING :
· Train for and demonstrate proficiency in all functions and duties as assigned.
· Maintain fire suppression skills and EMT certification through drills, continuing education and re-certification testing.
· Assist with the organization and planning of drills, and when assigned present training in relation to all job functions.
· Attend and actively participate in training courses, and read/study assigned materials related to all job functions.
· As an EMS provider, actively participate in and provide training and evaluation of District personnel as assigned during day-to-day operations.
FIRE PREVENTION & EDUCATION :
· Inspect and test hydrants, maintain hydrant records and perform minor maintenance to hydrants.
· Make presentations to community, station visitors and school groups on fire and emergency medical safety, including CPR & First Aid, and perform other community service relations including station tours.
· Maintain a general knowledge and understanding of fire prevention and safety codes and regulations as appropriate.
· Inspect buildings for fire hazards and compliance with fire prevention codes and maintain fire prevention records.
· Perform pre-fire planning of major facilities within the District’s response area.
OPERATIONS :
· Respond to emergency situations and carry out directions of superiors to protect property and life.
· Respond to fire emergencies and operate fire equipment including hoses, ladders, extinguishers and hand firefighting tools.
· Ventilate burning buildings by opening windows and skylights or cutting holes in roofs, walls and floors.
· Respond to medical emergencies and other patient care requests to provide basic life support or advanced life support procedures within the scope of their certification and as applicable to the incident.
· Transport patients to medical care facilities or transfer them to alternative transport care as appropriate to the situation.
· Extricate victims from dangerous situations and assess extent of injuries or illness and type of medical treatment required.
· Operate district apparatus in accordance with policy.
· Demonstrate knowledge and practice of certified skills within the policies and procedures as established by District Policy, Medical Control Physician, and identified in Washington Administrative Codes.
· Operate in hazardous atmospheres wearing self-contained breathing apparatus.
· Coordinate and/or operate as part of an interior fire attack-line team.
· Complete overhaul operations with the goal of ensuring total fire extinguishment.
· Perform salvage operations which include placing salvage covers, sweeping water and removing debris.
· Understand and apply appropriate communication protocol and demonstrate ability to follow radio policy/procedure.
· Protect evidence of fire origin and cause.
· Operate a variety of computerized equipment including but not limited to pumps, word processors and defibrillators.
· Assist special operations teams as assigned.
