Position Title: Police Officer
The Village of Palatine Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer with several positions open! Candidates must complete the Frontline National exam and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) by 12:000 pm (noon), September 5th, 2025 to be considered for the role.

Salary Information: $77,625 - $121,825

Job Requirements
Age : At least 21 years old but under 35 (Maximum age requirement waived for current and former police officers)
US Citizen : Authorized to work in the U.S.
Valid ILLINOIS State Driver's License : Yes
Vision : 20/40 in both eyes corrected/uncorrected
College : 4 year degree from accredited college or university. This requirement may be waived if the applicant meets any one of the following.
a. Has completed an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Harper College.
b. Completed 60 semester hours of college level course work AND (1) has served three (3) or more years of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable or (2) has served 180 days of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognized by the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable.
c. Possesses an associate’s degree and has been employed in good standing by the Palatine Police Department as a Community Service Officer for a minimum of two (2) years.
Additional Requirements:
· Have no tattoos below wrist or above the neckline
Hiring Process:
· Submit online Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) application
· Complete online written test by 12:00 pm (noon) on September 5th, 2025
· Complete Village of Palatine employment application and submit all required documents including certified transcripts (refer to the application packet for a list of required documents). Application link will be emailed after passing the written test.
· Successfully complete Staff Interview in Palatine, IL the week of September 15 – 17, 2025 (by invitation only)
· Successfully complete oral interview with the Board of Fire and Police Commission in Palatine, IL the week of September 23 – 24, 2025 (by invitation only)
· Must be available to perform the physical ability test in Palatine, IL September 26th, 2025 (by invitation only)
· Pass a background investigation, polygraph, psychological exam and medical exam. Scheduled to occur in October.
U.S. Military Status and Record:
· Those currently serving in the military will need to provide documentation of their status. Those who have previously served in the military will need to provide documentation of their discharge
· Education requirement may be waived (reference to Job Requirements; college section)
