The Urbana Fire Department, an ISO Class 1 department, is building an eligibility list for Firefighter-EMT that will be valid for up to two years. As vacancies for the position of Firefighter-EMT occur within the UFD, candidates will be selected from this list. Firefighters work a 24/48 rotating schedule (24 hours on, 48 hours off), 55.08 hours per week.

***All testing must be completed by December 14, 2025.***Salary:Candidate without AEMT or EMT-I certification: $60,505.37; candidate with AEMT or EMT-I certification: $62,320.53. Hiring Process: The final eligibility list will be based on:
· Written Exam = 40%
· Oral Interview = 60%
· CPAT/Ladder Climb = Pass/Fail

Job Requirements
Age:At least 20 years of age but not exceeding 34 years of age by December 14, 2025, unless exempted by Illinois statute. Exemptions to the maximum age limit are allowed for military service and volunteer, paid-on-call, part-time and full-time firefighters meeting certain conditions. No candidate will be hired unless they have reached the age of 21 at the time of offer.Citizenship Required:Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (must meet I-9 requirements).High School Grad / GED:
YesNecessary Certifications:Must provide proof of completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and proof of passing the Ladder Climb Test with any licensed agency issued no earlier than December 14, 2025.
