Salary Information: Starting wage for 2026 $60,659, FF/Paramedic wage after 3 years for 2026 $70,553

Department Overview

Shelby Fire responds to over 2000 call per year, providing fire and EMS to over 12,700 residents. Covering 49 square miles. Staffing consists of 1 Chief, 3 Captains and 12 Full Time Firefighters as well as 10 Part-Paid Firefighters. Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to pass a physical examination
Drug urinalysis
Background check

Necessary Certifications

Minimum Volunteer Firefighter
Minimum EMT-B
Firefighter 2 preferred but not required
AEMT or paramedic preferred but not required
