Position: Firefighter/Paramedic
Salary: $60,000-$94,000

Conifer Fire Protection District (representing Inter-Canyon, Elk Creek, and North Fork Fire Protection Districts) has 3 openings for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The list created from this job posting will be used to fill additional openings in 2025. Conifer Fire Department is an all-hazard incident agency and combination career/volunteer fire district serving the communities of Aspen Park, Conifer, Buffalo Creek, and parts of Pine and Morrison in Colorado. Conifer Fire Department covers approximately 400 square miles along Highway 285 ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 feet in elevation. Conifer Fire Department serves residents and those recreating in some of the most scenic areas in the Denver foothills including Staunton State Park and the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. Conifer Fire Department has an emphasis on wildland fire due to the wildland-urban interface risk. Conifer Fire Department firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule and are expected to be adept at EMS, rescue, structure fire, and wildfire as well as maintaining the associated certifications. The annual call volume is approximately 2,000 calls per year.

Testing Process
This will be a competitive and objective hiring process focused on ranking candidates based on their knowledge and ability in fighting structure fires, wildfires, and providing excellent EMS care. Candidates should be prepared for a competitive and objective interview process including the following:
· National Testing Network’s FireTeam exam (completed through your NTN account).
· Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA) available to complete through your NTN account.
· Typing Test, available to complete through your NTN account.
· Paramedic practical skills testing.
· Oral interview.
· Ride Along (4 hours).
· Chief’s Interview.
· An NFPA physical with a fit for duty rating (required upon acceptance of a conditional offer).
· Criminal and motor vehicle background check (required upon acceptance of a conditional offer).
Minimum Qualifications
· Current NREMT-P certification or State of Colorado State Paramedic Certification and demonstrated ability to provide high quality ALS care.
· Minimum Colorado Firefighter 1 certification.
· State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certifications.
· Ability to obtain an NWCG red card certification as Firefighter, Type 2 (FFT2) or higher within 3 months of hire. This includes the ability to perform an NWCG Work Capacity Test at the rigorous level (3 mile hike carrying a 45 pound pack in 45 minutes or less). This includes the ability and willingness to maintain an NWCG red card annually.
· Valid CPAT required after receiving a conditional offer.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Must be at least 21 years of age.
· Criminal background check and motor vehicle background check results acceptable to Conifer Fire Department.
· Physical ability and willingness to participate in an annual department sponsored physical agility test.
Preferred Qualifications
· Professional experience as a career firefighter/paramedic. Experience of career fire medics will be considered as lateral candidates on a case-by-case basis based on experience.
· Current State of Colorado Firefighter II certification.
· Current NWCG red card certification as Firefighter, Type 2 or higher.
· Wildland qualifications such as FFT1, FFT2, Faller I, Faller II, Faller III, etc.
· Ability and experience driving heavy apparatus.
