Position Title: Firefighter/Paramedic
The Normal Fire Department is currently building an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. To be considered for this position candidates must complete a department application before Monday November 30th, 2020. The department application can be found here.
Candidates are also required to complete the Work Attitude Questionnaire and FireTEAM exam before the closing date of the exam, which is December 7th, 2020.

Age: Applicants must be less than 35 years of age on the close of the
examination date but must be at least 21 years of age by the date of
US Citizen: Yes
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid ILLINOIS State Driver's License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must complete a
medical exam which includes the ISHIHARA test to determine the existence
and extent of color deficiency, an essential element for completion of fire
College: Desirable but not required
Academy Certification: No
Prior Experience: No
Necessary Certifications: State of Illinois or National EMT-Paramedic license, or be enrolled in
a Paramedic Training program on the close of the written examination
Additional Requirements: A candidate who receives a conditional offer of employment must provide proof at the time of conditional offer of a valid CPAT
certification and Ladder Climbing Certification that was issued less than 12
months preceding the candidate’s offer of employment.
Hiring Process: The duration of the selection process is approximately four months from
start to finish. This includes the initial employment application deadline to
the posting of the final eligibility pool. Applicants not appointed to
probationary status may re-apply for employment during any subsequent
