Position Title: Firefighter Recruit

Salary Information: 50,177.78 in academy – upon graduation $55,793.92

Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Necessary Certifications: A high school diploma or GED, must be at least 18 years of age, current CPAT within 12 months of written test; Valid Arizona Driver license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to start date; Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Certification as a Paramedic with the State of Arizona preferred.
Additional Requirements: Candidates that do not possess a certification as an EMT or certification as a Paramedic in the state of Arizona must be in the national registry for reciprocity. Candidates not in the national registry, will need to retake certifications to be registered in the state of Arizona by date of hire.
Working Conditions: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, travel and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment.
