We are a Fire-based EMS department that services the City of Salina and Saline County. We're proud to say that our department has an ISO Class 2 rating and is a CFAI Accredited department. We operate on a 24/48 work schedule and are an all hazards department that provides regional response in Technical Rescue and Hazardous Material incidents. Our staff consists of 90 sworn and 2 civilian positions. All members are educated and highly trained in multiple emergency disciplines. The SFD continuously strives to improve services to its community through professionalism and efficiency. The SFD serves the City of Salina, Saline County, and North Central Region of Kansas for specialty incidents. The SFD utilizes 4 Stations strategically placed throughout the city to provide fire suppression, emergency medical services, advanced technical rescue, hazardous materials response, fire inspection, fire investigation, plans review, and public education to the community it serves. The agency protects an estimated $550 million in property.

Situated at the intersection of Interstate Highways 70 and 135, Salina is centered in one of the largest wheat producing areas of the world.
