Job Classification: Patrol Officer
The Galion Police Department is seeking to fill the position of Patrol Officer. Candidates must download, complete and submit an application to the City of Galion. Applications can be either dropped off in person or scanned and emailed to Civil Service Commission Clerk Natasha Hatfield at natashahatfield@galion.city.
All candidates must take the Frontline National exam through National Testing Network to be considered further in the hiring process. Eligible applicants will then participate in a physical ability test on September 24th, 2022, held at 5 Heise Lane Galion, Ohio. The Civil Service Commission will then establish a ranking of candidates to be given to the police department to begin the background investigation process.
The department requires the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by September 23rd, 2022 or you may not be considered further in the process.
Salary Information: Starting $23.60 per hour, at 6 months $24.81 per hour, at 1-year anniversary $25.99 per hour. Contract allows for additional certification pay up to $0.63 per hour.

Department Overview: We are a small city between Mansfield and Bucyrus just off of St. Rt. 30. We are currently authorized for 19 full-time officers: Chief, 4 Lieutenants, 2 Detectives, 1 School Resource Officer and 10 Patrol Officers, including a K-9 unit. We run three standard operational shifts. We have averaged 9900 calls for service (27 calls per day) over the past three years. Officers have a union contract and are represented by the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.
