The Kansas City Police Department is continuously hiring for Police Officer positions. The department requires the completion of the Frontline National exam through NTN and their department application which can be completed on their website at, careers.kcpd.org.
Salary Information: $37,560 annual while in the Academy, $45,564 after probationary period is completed, $76,452 top out
Benefit Information: -Pension, 2.5% multiplier of base salary based on years of service, vested at 15 years of service, retirement-eligible at 27 years of service, mandatory retirement at 35 years of service or age 65-College Incentive-Bi-lingual Skill Pay (if qualify)-Shift differential if assigned to evening or midnight shift-10 paid holidays-13 vacation days after 1st full year of employment (gradually increases to 30 vacation days depending on years of service)-Voluntary aerobics program to earn up to 2 extra days off every six months-18 paid sick days a year (unused time accumulates)-Health Insurance-department pays 90% of the premium for an individual plan, 85% for individual plus one plan, and 80 % of the premium for a family plan (HMO or PPO plans available)-Optional Dental and Vision Plans-Life Insurance paid by Department (additional can be purchased)-Deferred Compensation Plan available-Employee Assistance Program and Employee Wellness Program available-Flexible Spending Accounts available

Department Overview: It is the Kansas City Police Department’s mission to protect and serve with professionalism, honor, and integrity and its vision is to make Kansas City and the metropolitan area the safest community in the nation as a result of the efforts of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and its many partners. Police officers perform a number of essential functions such as patrol areas to prevent and detect crime; respond to calls for assistance; conduct criminal investigations; interact with the community to build cooperation and support; pursue and arrest suspects; enforce traffic and parking laws; write reports and maintain records; work with superiors, peers, and others as a team; prepare for and participate in planned events; prepare for court and give testimony, and fulfill other administrative duties when required. The KCPD offers the opportunity to transfer to specialized units after three years in patrol such as investigations, K-9, TAC (SWAT), bomb and arson, narcotics and vice, traffic enforcement, the helicopter unit and so much more.
