Nye County Sheriff's Office is building an ongoing eligibility list for Dispatcher.
The department requires the candidate Public Safety Self Assessments (PSSA), Typing Test, and Ecomm Computer Simulations exam. You can access these through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing them as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
Salary Information: $19.76 - $26.01/hour

Department Overview: Led by Sheriff Sharon Wehrly, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office is a dedicated to the philosophy and the implementation of the principles of community policing. We strive to establish and maintain a relationship with the community to ensure needs are met as it relates to law enforcement and crime prevention.
Area Information: Nye County is the largest county in Nevada and the third largest in the United States, covering 18,199 Square miles. While considered a rural county, there are 17 inhabited communities, countless ghost towns and millions of acres of public lands.
The consolidated dispatch center is in Pahrump, the county’s largest town. Pahrump is one of the fastest growing communities in Nye County and is just a short 1-hour drive to Las Vegas.
Population: Approximately 45,000 residents
Age: 18
Citizenship Required: No; however, legal right to work in the U.S. is required.
High School Grad/GED: High School diploma or equivalency/Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma or GED
Valid NEVADA Driver's License: Possession of valid Nevada driver’s license at the time of appointment and the ability to maintain insurability under the County’s insurance policy.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Must be able to speak and read English proficiently.
Necessary Certifications: Obtain and maintain NCIC/NCJIS certification within 6 months of employment, CPR certification, EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) certification and any other required certifications and proficiencies required to perform the duties & responsibilities of the position. Must be able to obtain a 40 WPM typing certification.

Additional Requirements: Ability to multitask by listening to and understanding radio transmissions and telephone conversations while entering the information into the CAD system; to communicate clearly & precisely under pressure.
Hiring Process: Hiring process includes Testing through National Testing Network, An oral board interview, and a background investigation. The hiring process takes between 2 and 6 months to complete. Conditional offer phase consists of the following: Medical, CVSA, Psychological.
