The City of Fostoria is hiring for Entry Level and Lateral Firefighter/Paramedics.

Salary Information: $35,298 starting, $51,233 after 3 years, top pay

Department Overview: The Fostoria Fire Division is staffed by 18 full time sworn firefighters that provide fire and specialized technical responses to the 7.7 square mile city (population 13,441) as well as Advanced Life Support EMS for the City of Fostoria and several surrounding townships totaling approximately 29 square mile coverage area. The department works a 24/48 schedule, averaging a 51 hour work week.
Area Information: The City of Fostoria is in Northwest Ohio, approximately 30 miles south of Toledo. The city is located at the corners of Hancock, Wood, and Seneca Counties. The community has a mix of Industrial, Commercial, and Residential properties, with the historic "Iron Triangle", walking distance from downtown. The "Iron Triangle" one of the nation's busiest rail junctions which allows rail enthusiast's the opportunity to view any of the 175 trains that travel through town daily. The City of Fostoria was founded in 1854 and named after Charles Foster, the 35th Governor of Ohio and U.S. Secretary of Treasury under President Benjamin Harrison. Our city is rich with history and architectural design.

Vision: Your visual acuity must be at least 20/30 with glasses or contacts, with 180 degree field and have normal color perception.
Academy Certification: Yes
Necessary Certifications: State of Ohio Certified Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic (at time of appointment or currently enrolled in an accredited paramedic program).
Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors: Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Felony level convictions, or be charged or under indictment for any felony level offense. Expunged and sealed criminal records are subject to review by the Fire Division.
Veteran's Points: Ohio Revised Code 124.23 (C)(1)
Any person who has completed service in the uniformed services, who has been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or transferred to the reserve with evidence of satisfactory service, and who is a resident of this state and any member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States, including the Ohio national guard, who has completed more than one hundred eighty days of active duty service pursuant to an executive order of the president of the United States or an act of the congress of the United States may file with the director a certificate of service or honorable discharge, and, upon this filing, the person shall receive additional credit of twenty per cent of the person's total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade. A person who receives an additional credit under division (C)(1) of this section shall not receive an additional credit under division (C)(2) of this section.
Applicants who have their State Of Ohio Fire Fighter II Card and their Paramedic Card will be given 10% credit for each card.
