Town of Hillsborough is currently building an ongoing eligibility list for Police Officer – Entry Level.
Salary Information: $88,504 - $118,352
Benefit Information: 3% @ 50 PERS retirement benefit with employee contribution paid by employee for classic members, 2.7% @ 57 for new members. Town contributes $50 per month towards a retirement health savings account for eligible employees.Town offers choice of medical plans available through PERS. The Town contributes up to the Blue Shield HMO rate toward medical coverage; up to $2000 per family member per year for dental coverage; and up to $325 per family member per year for vision coverage. Town provides 100% Town-paid long-term disability insurance. Life insurance of $100,000 is also available.10-25 days annual vacation, based on length of service. 12 paid holidays accrued per year, including one floating holiday. 14 days sick leave per year.Employee assistance program, pre-tax unreimbursed medical/dependent care expenses; deferred compensation program and credit union are available.

This goal is realized through a dynamic combination of proactive patrol, continually staffed communications center, investigations, crime prevention, applied technology, community outreach and other interactions.
City Information: The Hillsborough Police Department enjoys a partnership with the community and has maintained the lowest crime rate of any California city with a population over 10,000 for over 15 years. The Town of Hillsborough is an entirely residential community located in San Mateo County, California. Hillsborough has excellent, award winning public schools, police and fire protection and public works service. These are the qualities that have formed the character of the Town and have remained stable for over 100 years.

Vision: 20/100 correctable to 20/30, with adequate depth perception and color vision. If soft contacts are worn, no limit on uncorrected distance visual acuity provided soft lenses have been worn for at least six months prior to the physical examination.
Academy Certification: Yes.
Certifications: Certified POST Academy graduate is preferred but not required.
Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors: Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: State and Federal Law require that all Police Officers be free from felony conviction and domestic violence. Driving Disqualifiers: DUI less than 5 years ago, or more than one instance Drug Use Disqualifiers: Felony drug conviction of any kind Employment Disqualifiers: Fired for theft or gross misconduct Additional Disqualifiers: As part of the selection process, successful candidates will undergo a stringent background investigation which will include: confirming all information provided by the candidates, a polygraph test and psychological and medical examinations. Candidates may be disqualified at any point in this process.
