Benefit Information: Sick Leave, Holidays, Vacation, Health Insurance and Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) Must possess or willing to complete a minimum of Basic Emergency Medical Technician and Ohio Volunteer Firefighter Course - Training paid for by the Union County Sheriff's Office.Job Overview: The Patrol Bureau is a part of the Operations Division within the Union County Sheriff’s Office and is responsible for responding to calls for service, citizen’s complaints, traffic enforcement, as well as, providing services to supplement the law enforcement operations of the agency. The Public Safety Officer is a cross-trained position between law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service. The Public Safety Officer, is a fully cross-trained Deputy Sheriff, firefighter and E.M.T., and will act as a First Responder when arriving on the scene prior to fire and EMS personnel, as well as performing law enforcement functions under the community oriented policing concept. The Public Safety Officer will patrol and work in an assigned area on a regular basis in partnership with the community to identify and prevent problems in addition to assisting the community with emergency situations. This approach will be accomplished by providing the citizens of the assigned area personalized police services as well as pro-active problem solving. The Public Safety Officer will be trained and equipped to deliver medical and fire suppression steps until fire and emergency medical personnel arrive. This position is under the direction and supervision of their respective Shift Supervisor and the Commander of the Patrol Division and shall be in a classified position as a sworn Deputy Sheriff.
