Department Information: Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue is a combination career/volunteer fire district located in Jefferson County on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. Beginning at the Hood Canal Floating Bridge the fire district services a 55 square mile response area, with a resident population of 6,000. This is increased daily by the 13,000-19,000 vehicles that cross the HCB on any given day, and by the seasonal influx of tourists yachting, golfing, and enjoying the natural splendor our area offers. Port Ludlow is marketed as “The Village in the Woods by the Bay” and is predominantly a residential retirement / resort community.
PLF&R is a full-service emergency services agency, that provides BLS & ALS treatment & transport, fire protection, technical rescue, marine response, and wildland firefighting. In 2017, the call volume will be 1,200+ with over 70% being calls for medical assistance. PLF&R is governed by a 5-member Board of Commissioners and is managed by Fire Chief Brad Martin.

Valid WASHINGTON State Driver's License: Required prior to appointment
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Academy Certification: IFSAC Firefighter I and EMT certification to be obtained within 18 months. All training provided by District.
Prior Experience: None
Fit-for-Duty: Must pass physical, medical & suitability examinations administered by the Fire District’s provider.
Required within six (6) months of appointment
PLF&R accepts applications on a continuous basis for the following positions: Volunteer Resident Firefighter; all training is provided; meal per diem stipend of $90/24 hour shift
Volunteer Firefighter and / or Volunteer EMT-B; all training is provided; meal per diem stipend of $90/24 hour shift or $10 per participation point.
Shift Schedule: Resident Firefighters are assigned to a 48/96 work schedule, with the potential to be assigned to a varied dayshift schedule while on training assignments.
