Job Classification: Deputy Sheriff (Criminal Patrol) - Entry Level Candidates
The Linn County Sheriff's Office is building an eligibility list for Deputy Sheriff (Criminal Patrol) for Entry Level candidates. The Sheriff's Office is building an ongoing eligibility list for current and future positions. The application process will close, and all NTN test scores must be received by, June 30th, 2019. The Sheriff's Office may close this recruitment at any time, without further notice.
All applicants must successfully pass the ORPAT with a time at or below 5:30. Applicants residing in Oregon may take the ORPAT with the National Testing Network or electronically attach to their NEOGOV application proof of a passing ORPAT taken dated within 1 year of the closing date of this recruitment. ORPAT proof must state the date it was passed, the agency administering the ORPAT, the passing time, and the applicant's name. It must either come directly to Linn County from the agency or be on agency letterhead. ORPAT proof may be emailed to email@example.com.
(For Out-of-State Applicants): An application may be accepted without an ORPAT score. However, an ORPAT score with NTN is required to move forward in the hiring process.

Salary Information: From $4,304 up to $5,420 per month (base salary)
Bilingual Pay: Employees who are fluent in Spanish (and possibly Russian and/or American Sign Language) and use these skills while on duty will receive an additional 5% per month after passing a Standardized Language Fluency test administered by Linn County. Bilingual Pay is awarded at the discretion of the Sheriff.

Background Check: Finalists for this position will be subject to an extensive background investigation. Some issues that might cause an applicant to be withheld from further consideration include, but are not limited to the following:
Driving Disqualifiers: Must be a competent and licensed operator of vehicles in the State of Oregon.
Drug Use Disqualifiers: No arrests or convictions for any felony or any misdemeanor crimes involving the unlawful use, possession, delivery, or manufacturing of a controlled substance, narcotic or dangerous drug.
Additional Disqualifiers: Must pass a thorough background investigation, psychological exam, medical exam including drug screen, and integrity interview that establishes strong moral character. Any conduct that could compromise the integrity of the employee, other employees, the Sheriff’s Office or the County will be closely evaluated. Failure to read and follow directions may also disqualify candidates.
The individual shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of the individual or others in the workplace.
