Work Schedule: 24 hours on, 48 hours off. This is a 56-hour workweek. Overtime rate paid over 40 hours.

Department Information:
Charlotte County Fire and EMS (CCFEMS) is a combined fire and ALS transport agency. CCFEMS serves a full-time population of nearly 200,000 and protects an area of 693 sq. miles of land and 129 sq. miles of water from 14 fire rescue stations and 5 EMS only stations. CCFEMS ran over 36,000 calls for service in 2021. CCFEMS is a growing department and offers many opportunities for professional development and career advancement. Along with fire suppression and ALS transport, CCFEMS offers multiple specialties to better serve the community. Specialties include Marine Operations, Special Operations (hazmat, confined space, high angle rescue, trench rescue, and structural collapse), ARFF (Airport Rescue Firefighting), SWAT Medic, and Paramedic Field Trainer.

Working Conditions: Very frequent exposure to changes in temperature and humidity. Risk/Safety Conditions: Frequently around moving equipment, exposure to dust, gases and fumes, slippery or irregular surfaces, and moving objects. Occasional exposure to excessive noise levels. Essential Physical Activities: Frequent heavy lifting of over 50 pounds. Constant standing. Very frequent speaking and hearing, and detailed inspection/reading/editing. Frequent walking, sitting and bending/stooping. Occasional writing, reaching over head, kneeling and crawling. Will frequently monitor/operate fire apparatus such as engine, ladder, brush and staff vehicle.
