Yamhill County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) is actively recruiting to create a pool of diverse candidates eligible for current and future regular, full-time entry-level Deputy vacancies in our Enforcement (Patrol) Division (SO25-015). It is important that you submit your NTN scores to YCSO and your Government Jobs application by the posted deadline to be considered for employment.
DEADLINE: YCSO will pull scores from NTN on 02/13/2025, so if you are planning to apply, the following MUST be in the NTN system (visible to YCSO) by 3:00 p.m. on 02/13/2025:

Oregon Physical Ability Test (ORPAT):All ENTRY-LEVEL candidates must provide ORPAT physical ability test (with Push/Pull and Dummy Drag components) results, dated within the previous 12 months, by Sheriff's Interview/Conditional Offer date (post-interview step). You may provide this as follows:
Passing scores are 6:20 or under, with a pass on the Dummy Drag.Yamhill County will reimburse the cost of ORPAT testing for candidates hired under this recruitment. Receipt is required for reimbursement.

Department Overview:
Yamhill County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) is sworn to protect and honored to serve the nearly 109,000 residents of our county. Through mutually beneficial cooperative partnerships within our community, we are committed to problem-oriented policing with the goal of reducing the public safety concerns of our citizens and visitors. Yamhill County encompasses 718 square miles and includes the incorporated cities of Amity, Carlton, Dayton, Dundee, Lafayette, McMinnville, Newberg, Sheridan, Willamina, and Yamhill.
We provide correctional and courthouse security services, as well as 24-hour a day patrol of suburban and rural areas, including timberlands and waterways areas. The Yamhill County Correctional Facility is a 255-bed minimum/medium/maximum security adult corrections facility. The Sheriff's Office patrols the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as several cities that have contracted with YCSO to provide law enforcement services. In addition, YCSO has several specialized units including Major Crimes Response Team (MCRT), Marine Patrol, Rural/Woods Patrol, and Special Investigation Unit (SIU).
Salary Information:$5,989.22 - $8,347/month anticipated at hire for full-time positions, depending on experience and position of hire. This position is a represented position through Teamsters Local 223. Incentive pay is available for education, certification, and bilingual speakers.

Valid OREGON Driver's License : An unrestricted state-issued driver’s license with the ability to obtain an Oregon driver license and a good driving record is required.
Ability to Read/Speak English : Yes. Yamhill County also offers bilingual incentive pay.
Vision : Must meet the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training requirements as detailed in Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) .
College : Eligible for educational incentive premium based on satisfying education criteria.
Academy Certification : Must be able to be certified by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training within timeline established by OAR.

Hiring Process : Candidates must pass all written, physical, and oral examinations, in addition to medical and psychological examinations. All candidates must be able to pass a personal background check including, but not limited to, criminal, civil, driving, military, educational, and employment history pursuant to OAR. Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors : In conjunction with the Mandatory Certification Disqualifiers outlined in OAR, the Sheriff's Office has identified the following disqualifiers:Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:
· Domestic Violence Conviction
· Felony Conviction
· Misdemeanor Conviction (reviewed on a case-by- case basis)
Driving Disqualifiers:
· Multiple moving violations
Drug Use Disqualifiers:
· Illegal manufacture, transport or sale of a controlled substance.
· Repetitive or continual drug use.
Employment Disqualifiers:
· Discharge from employment related to poor performance, attendance, policy violations, or inability to adjust to corrective discipline.
· Any discharge from any military force other than honorable will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
Additional Disqualifiers:
· Any conduct that could compromise the integrity of the employee, other employees, the Sheriff's Office or the County will be closely evaluated.
· Failure to read and follow directions.
· Any conduct that could pose a direct threat to the health or safety of the individual or others in the workplace.
Behaviors which do not necessarily reach the level of severity of the disqualifiers listed above may still be a basis for rejection after consideration of each case on its individual merits.
