Classification: Recruit in the Minimum Standards Program (FF I & II/EMT)
All applicants must apply to the program using the documents at the link listed below. In addition, candidates must have a current CPAT for entry into the recruit class. Do not sign up for the FireTEAM Testing at this time. Go back to the home page, select CPAT for firefighters and schedule the CPAT Testing. During the recruit class, students will be given instructions of when and how they may sign up for the FireTEAM Testing.

All applicants must have a current CPAT along with an already submitted class application. There is a $20 non-refundable fee for processing and must be submitted with the documents above.
Number of Openings: 34 students per class (Combined Fire Fighting/EMT: January, July and October) (Fire Fighting only: March and September)
Admission Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older, TABE test required or qualifying SAT, ACT, or CPT test scores (must be within 2 years of date of entry into a class or AA degree or higher will waive test scores). Candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED.
School Information: MTC conducts five recruit classes per year. The Fire Fighting program is 398 clock hours – 12 weeks long and meets M-F 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. The program is structured to prepare each student for employment as a Firefighter I or a Firefighter II (career firefighter) upon successful completing the program and passing the Minimum Standards Examination of the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training (written and practical). The MTC FF II graduate will be issued a Pro Board Certification as well as Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Wildland/Forestry, HazMat Awareness & Operations and EVOC certifications. The Combined Fire Fighting and EMT program is a 698 clock hours, 22 weeks long and meets M-F 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. The MTC Combined Program graduate will be issued all of the above mentioned Fire certifications as well as an EMT Certification and NREMT upon passing the National Registry EMT exam.
