The City of Seminole Fire Rescue Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic working 24/48 hour shift work.
The successful candidate will perform emergency medical and firefighting work in the treatment of the injured or sick--combating, extinguishing, preventing fires, operating Department apparatus, and equipment.Work must be performed in a proficient manner in accordance with explicit adherence to established practices within County medical protocol and well-defined administrative procedures; however, the incumbent must exercise considerable technical judgment and initiative in meeting a wide variety of emergencies.
Applications will be accepted for Florida State certified paramedics willing to attend Fire Academy, or for Florida State Firefighter/EMTs currently enrolled in Paramedic School with an anticipated graduation date on or before 7/31/2020.

Department Information: The City of Seminole Fire Rescue provides Fire and EMS services to the city and the unincorporated areas surrounding the city. The Fire Rescue Department is a full-service department that operates out of four fire stations, and a fleet maintenance facility. The Department has a total of 86 employees. All field personnel and officers are State of Florida Certified Firefighters and EMTs or Paramedics. The Department maintains four (4) engines, one (1) ladder truck, a full-service heavy rescue squad, a hazardous materials truck, brush truck, Marine Unit, and a medical transport rescue unit. Four fire engines, a ladder truck, and the heavy rescue squad are staffed on a 24-hour basis. The men and women of the City of Seminole Fire Rescue take their jobs and individual responsibilities seriously. Their dedication to excellence keeps the department's performance among the best in the State of Florida. The City of Seminole Fire Rescue is an ISO 1 rated agency.

City Information: Seminole/Pinellas County Located just south of Largo and west of St. Petersburg, the city is the gateway to several of Pinellas County's beach communities, including Madeira Beach and Indian Rocks Beach. Population: The Seminole Fire District covers 25 square miles and provides services to about 80,000 residents.
High School Grad/GED: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Valid FLORIDA State Driver's License: Minimum Florida Class E driver’s license is required at time of hire.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Applicant must pass a medical evaluation under the NFPA 1582 standard.

Minimum Qualifications for position::
Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors: Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Candidates must meet Florida State Statute 633.34
Driving Disqualifiers: Candidate must have a valid Florida Drivers License, Class E
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Must pass annual drug screen
Additional Disqualifiers: Compliance with Florida Statute 633.34 is required including no tobacco product usage for a period of twelve months (12) months preceding employment, and be non-smoking/non-tobacco user throughout employment.
Tattoos are permitted subject to the conditions outlined in Department Directive 14-002.
Failure to meet any portion of Florida State Statute 633.34 regarding Firefighting Qualification Requirements.
