Department Overview
Sylvania Fire-EMS is responsible for all-hazards emergency incident coverage in Sylvania Township and the City of Sylvania, serving over 51,000 residents across 28 square miles. Sylvania Fire-EMS also responds with border communities, including Springfield Township and Richfield Township as part of our automatic aid agreements. Sylvania Fire-EMS is proud to be a 100% Advanced Life Support department, as all members are certified as Firefighter/Paramedics.

College: No Degree necessary
Necessary requirements:
Ohio or National Registry EMT Certification/state card; Paramedic preferred
Proof of enrollment in a paramedic program with an anticipated completion date. For the anticipated completion date, this can be found on page 5 of our application. (Must be in the last 90 days of Paramedic Program)
Related requirements to include High School Diploma or High School General Education Development (GED) and Driver’s License
Meet NFPA 1582 vision/medical standards
Hiring Process:
All candidates are encouraged to apply and participate in the Physical Ability Test. Qualified candidates who successfully pass the Physical Ability Test will be placed on the hiring list. Appointment, however, is contingent upon completion of the paramedic program and receipt of all required certifications.
