The City of Geneva is seeking motivated and community-oriented individuals to join our team as Police Officers.

Deadline to apply: April 11th, 2026.

Salary: $80,613 (starting) - $120,841

The City is currently in negotiations with the FOP, and a new rate will be determined for May 1, 2026, which will apply to new hires.

Typical Qualifications

US Citizenship or an individual who is not a citizen but is legally authorize to work in the US under federal law
21 years old at time of application, and under 35 years of age at time of appointment, unless otherwise exempt by statute
High school diploma or GED
Valid NIPSTA POWER card issued no later than April 11, 2025
Associate's degree; or a minimum of 60 credit hours towards a bachelor's degree ffrom an accredited college or university; OR
Military service pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6(h); OR
Have successfully completed the State of Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Training Course
Must pass the written examination and oral interview
After a conditional job offer, must pass a polygraph test, medical and psychological examination, drug screening and an intensive background investigation

If hired, prior to completing probation, candidates must live within 25-miles (straight line distance) of the corporate limits of the City of Geneva.

Qualified candidates who successfully complete the pre-employment background check and are offered a position will attend the College of DuPage's Suburban Law Enforcement Academy's BA 26-03 which starts on Monday, August 24th.

The deadline to apply is Saturday, April 11, 2026. Candidates must submit their ducments and complete their examinations by the application deadline through NTN. Oral interviews with the City's Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are anticipated to be scheduled the first week of May.
