Classification: Deputy Sheriff’s Recruit
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is accepting applications for Deputy Sheriff’s Recruit.
STEP 1: Schedule yourself to take the “FrontLine National” law enforcement examination administered by the National Testing Network (NTN)
If you have problems scheduling the examination, the email for NTN Customer Support is: support@nationaltestingnetwork.com
As part of this process, you must establish an account with NTN. A fee is required to take the FrontLine National examination. Candidates with demonstrated financial hardship may submit a request to have the fee waived before test registration. See “Candidate FAQ #26” on the NTN website (www.nationaltestingnetwork.com/publicsafetyjobs/faqs.cfm) to learn more about how to apply for a fee waiver.
There are three components to the FrontLine National examination: A video-based human relations test, a reading ability test, and a written language ability test. Testing takes approximately 2 1/2 hours. Upon receipt of test scores from NTN, candidates will be notified of their pass/fail status on this test component.
Please note that the NTN website provides a description of the test components and directions for scheduling a test for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. The website offers a practice test for purchase with sample items.
STEP 2: Register to participate in a Physical Agility Test (PAT) with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. To view upcoming dates and register, visit: https://www.joinacso.com/regional-training-center/pelletb-and-pat-wstb-registration
(Only register for the PAT!!! Do not chose the PELLETB Exam option if you have already completed, or plan on completing STEP 1 with NTN)
STEP 3: Apply for the Deputy Sheriff’s Recruit position on the Alameda County Jobs website. This is STEP 3 because you must submit your passing NTN and PAT scores along with your application. Each of these test scores will be provided to you on our Agency letterhead. Add these items under the “resume” tab of your online application, or you can email your test scores to elaine.lemi@acgov.org.
