Job Title: Dispatcher/Telecommunications Officer
Salary: $21.00/hr.

General Summary:

Works under the general supervision of the Officer-in-Charge and the Senior Dispatcher. The position of Telecommunications is often a demanding and stressful situation. Even though the individual is removed from the actual presence ofthe "street" environment, there are demands from the calls received for service, office demands and the responsibility of the safety of the officers and citizens, which must be understood. Individuals must always maintain professional courtesy.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for transmitting and receiving radio calls.
Receiving incoming telephone complaints, recording the radio and telephone calls.
Entering and retrieving data from LEADS, NCIC and TAC system.
Responsible for the dispatch of police vehicles to assignments, assisting the jailer in searching and booking inmates when applicable.

Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
Clerical skills are a must.
Possess good communication skills.
Must become CRIS and LEADS certified by successfully passing an examination.
Ability to deal effectively with police and civilian personnel.
Must be able to work with little supervision and be able to make decisions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: OFFICE

The employee may be exposed to and work in a multi-stimuli office environment with open doors, equipment noise, with frequent interruptions by employees. Works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
