Position Title: Police Officer
Salary Information: Current starting pay $77,232 - Top pay after 8 years is $141,594: plus 72 hours of annual holiday bonus pay, longevity pay, uniform allowance, additional bonus, stipend, and overtime opportunities.
Department Overview
The Grayslake Police Department currently employs 32 full-time police officers, 6 part-time officers, and 3 full-time community service officers, who handle over 30,000 calls for service per year. Grayslake Police also serves the Village of Hainesville as part of a police service contract in effect since 2011. Patrol officers work 12 hour shifts with every other Fri, Sat, Sun off. The department has integrated several industry leading technologies to improve officer safety, effeciency, performance, and community service. There are several specialty unit opportunities such as Detective, School Resource Officer, Bike Unit, Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, Lake County Major Crimes Investigator, Evidence Technician, Truck Enforcement Officer, NIPAS EST and NIPAS MFF. All uniforms and body armor are issued at no cost, and the Village provides a one-time stipend to purchase the duty weapon of your choice (some restrictions apply). The Village also offers generous group healthcare coverage through BCBS, 457 deferred compensation plan, Aflac, life insurance, and FSA. The department employs a full-time comfort dog (Jake) to assist in officer wellness and community initiatives, and has an active FOP lodge to further support our community.
