Position SummaryFirefighter/Paramedics at Camano Island Fire & Rescue (CIFR) respond to a wide range of emergency incidents, with primary responsibility for advanced life support (ALS) medical care, as well as fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials incidents, and public service calls. In addition to emergency response, duties include patient assessment and treatment, fire and EMS training, pre-incident planning, fire prevention activities, facility inspections, and hydrant maintenance. Firefighter/Paramedic's operate under the general supervision of assigned Shift Captains and Battalion Chiefs. For ALS-related functions, this position also operates under the clinical supervision and authority of the Medical Services Officer (MSO), Medical Program Director, and applicable base hospital physicians, consistent with approved protocols and medical direction. The experienced position is for individuals with a Paramedic License and working expereince as a Paramedic with interest in gaining fire knowledge and expereince. The Lateral position is for individuals seeking a lateral placement from a neighboring or out of state disctrict that holds a current FF1 and Paramedic Lisence.

Base Salary Information:
Firefighter/Paramedic: $99,519.72 Annually (Entry Level) to $135,826.33 (Lateral with 20+ years Structural Firefighting Experience)

District Information:
Camano Fire serves a population of 17,028 in a 39-square-mile area. We provide advanced life support and basic life support services, fire prevention, specialty rescue services, and public education. We operate four stations, an administration office, and a maintenance facility. Our crews respond to more than 2,500 calls each year, approximately 70 percent of which are EMS. Our team includes 2 Chief Officers, 34 career firefighters (including 3 Battalion Chiefs, 3 Captains and 1 Medical Services Officer), 10 part-time firefighters, and approximately 15-20 volunteer firefighters. We have 5 administrative staff and 3 maintenance positions, all governed by a 5-member Board of Commissioners.
Camano Island is 15 minutes west of I-5, accessed via State Route 532. Part of Island County, Camano sits just across the bridge from the town of Stanwood, roughly 60 miles north of Seattle and 30 miles south of Mount Vernon. Camano is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream with two state parks, miles of hiking trails, public beaches, and fishing and boating opportunities.
