FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
The Civil Service Commission of Vermilion, Ohio hereby gives notice for an open competitive examination for Full-Time Police Officer. The City of Vermilion is an equal opportunity employer.
The Vermilion Police Department is offering full testing services for the position of (police officer) through National Testing Network (NTN). Testing results will be accepted from NTN for the police officer position from January 2 through February 1, 2026. To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to nationaltestingnetwork.com and select the ‘Find Jobs’ tab at the top of the page, choose the position of “Law Enforcement” and indicate “Ohio” in the “State” field. Please follow all further prompts from NTN and read instructions carefully.
When you visit the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:
-Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
-Review all information related to the Vermilion Police Department Police Officer testing, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
-Review detailed information about the testing process.
-Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).
Upon completion of your scheduled exam and submitting the required paperwork the scores are forwarded to the Vermilion Civil Service Commission. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on the Vermilion Police Department’s eligibility list once any applicable extra credit is applied and the list is certified by the Vermilion Civil Service Commission. The Vermilion Police Department will then contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. The National Testing Network does not replace the Vermilion Police Department’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results will be provided to Vermilion Police Department where the final decisions are made.
Again, candidates must complete and submit all online testing/application paperwork associated with the testing process by February 1, 2026, to be considered. If a candidate has taken the NTN test previously to this opening and your scores are still valid, please contact NTN to send your scores to Vermilion. You must contact NTN before the closing date to transfer your scores.
Hiring Process:
Testing and Receiving Applications: January 2, 2026, through February 1, 2026. The NTN passing score for the Vermilion Police Department is scoring at least a 70% in each of the three sections of the exam (reading, writing and the video portion).

$56,315.79 - $72,585.55
