KenCom Public Safety Dispatch is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time 9-1-1 Telecommunicator. We also have immediate openings for experienced part-time 9-1-1 Telecommunicators with at least two years of relevant experience in an Emergency Communications Center (ECC). The positions will remain open until suitable candidates are found. All candidates must complete testing through the National Testing Network (NTN) to be considered. Upon completion, KenCom will contact the candidates who have attained passing scores to participate in additional steps of the candidate selection process. Salary Information: $57,740.80 - $63,065.60 based on relevant experience as a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator in an ECC.

Department Overview: KenCom Public Safety Dispatch is a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week multijurisdictional Emergency Communications Center in Kendall County, Yorkville, IL, serving thirteen (13) police, fire, and EMS agencies. The 9-1-1 telecommunicator role is not just a job but a crucial part of our operations, as they are the first point of contact in emergencies. KenCom seeks 9-1-1 telecommunicator applicants who want to work in an exciting, challenging, and rewarding field. Job duties include, and are not limited to, answering 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls. Prioritizing calls and dispatching the appropriate responders. Track and maintain logs for emergency responders using a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. Interprets and relays complex data when necessary. Enters records in the State and Federal law enforcement databases. Performs routine office and clerical tasks. Works in a team environment and provides support to co-workers.
City/County Area Information: Kendall County, including Montgomery, Newark, Oswego, Plano, and Yorkville, has an approximate population of 140,000.

Job Requirements:
· 18 Years of Age
· Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
· High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
· Valid Driver’s License (not required to be Illinois)
· Ability to read & speak English
· Entry-level exams through NTN
· Must be able to type 40 wpm using standard keyboarding methods accurately
· Must have schedule flexibility, including working weekends, holidays, and overtime that may be mandatory
· Must have experience and be proficient in working with Windows-based computer operating systems
· Ability to multitask
· Must be of sound moral character and integrity
· Must exercise good judgment and demonstrate the ability to problem-solve
· Must have excellent customer service skills

Necessary Certifications/Licensing: The ability to obtain certifications/licenses within six (6) months of employment in the following courses and any other courses assigned by the employer:
· CPR
· EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch)
· LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System)
· IDPH – (IL Department of Public Health)
Prior Experience: Previous work in a public safety environment, especially in an Emergency Communication Center, is preferred but not required.
