Position Title: Full-Time Police Officer
The City of Mentor is hiring for the position of Full-Time Police Officer with several openings currently available. Candidates are required to complete National Testing Network’s Law Enforcement Frontline National exam to be considered for the eligibility list. Test scores will be accepted from exams taken between February 9, 2025 and February 9, 2026. Deadline for submission is February 9, 2026.

Salary Information: $77,848.68 to $98,283.12

College : Not required; however, extra credit points are given for Associate degree or higher
Academy Certification : Not required; however, extra credit points given for certification
Prior Experience : Not Required
Necessary Certifications : State of Ohio OPOTA Certification will be required after appointment, if not already obtained. If appointed, City of Mentor pays for Police Academy attendance and state testing.
Additional Requirements : Written exam average passing grade of 70% is required on the test to be considered for the eligibility list. All sections will be averaged together for final weighted grade.
Hiring Process : Must participate in written exam, physical agility test, background investigation, polygraph examination, medical examination, psychological test, drug screening and oral interview.
Extra Credit Points : See the City of Mentor's website for additional information on extra credit points for OPOTA Certification, Military Service, and Education. Points to be added to passing Written Exam score with proper proof.
