Position Title: Law Enforcement Officer (Entry Level)

Gearhart Police Department is currently hiring. All applicants must complete testing by February 12th, 2023. All applicants must fill out a department application located here

Salary Information: $58,245.00 a year base and will consider an officer with experience and certifications $58k - $78k

Benefit Information: 7- Step program- pers- health, dental, vision after 30 days for first pay period (officer and family)

Department Overview:
The Police Department has 3 full-time law enforcement officers. The department covers all calls within the city 24/7. The department officers also cover areas and assists agencies outside the city as needed. Each officer has their own SUV 4- wheel drive as a take home vehicle.

City/County/ Area Information:
The City of Gearhart is located on the North Oregon Coast. Full-time population is approx. 1450 citizens. The summer-time population does swell due to the mild summer weather, summer family homes, vacation rental homes, and 90- minute drive from the Portland Metro area. School District #10 is made up of Gearhart, Seaside, Cannon Beach and surrounding areas. School grades consisting of K-12 are all on one large campus area in separate buildings. Gearhart Golf Links is known as the oldest 18-hole golf course west of the Mississippi. Just a bit further north on HWY 101 are the cities of Warrenton and Astoria. The City of Astoria is home to the Astoria-Megler Bridge that connects with the State of Washington. The Government system of the city is Council based with a mayor and 4 council persons. Department Heads are the authority within their respected departments.
