Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue

The City of Tarpon Springs is currently accepting applications for the position of State of Florida certified Firefighter/EMT. Applicants must be willing to complete the Paramedic program.

SALARY RANGE:

· $53,272.42 - $75,953.99 Annually

· Includes Step Plan Advancement

All candidates must register with the National Testing Network (NTN) and successfully complete the following, with passing scores:

· Fire Team exams: Firefighter, PSSA 1, PSSA 2

· Candidate physical agility test (CPAT)

· Personal Health Questionnaire (PHQ)

QUALIFICATION CONSIDERATIONS:

Candidates will be paid as a Firefighter/EMT until the successful completion of the Paramedic program. They will be sponsored by the department to attend the Paramedic program which must be completed, with State and County certification, within 36 months from hire date.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Age: 18 years
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Driver’s License: Valid Florida Class E License
Language: Fluent in reading/speaking English
Vision: 20” and 20’ clarity, color distinction, depth perception
Certifications Required:

Florida Firefighter II Certification
Florida EMT Certification
CPR

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass the following pre-employment screenings:

Physical exam with drug screening
Psychological profile
Driving records check
Background investigation

CJIS Clearance (Criminal Justice Information Service)
Must work rotating 24-hour shifts, 56-hour work week
Must be physically capable of prolonged, strenuous activity under adverse conditions
No use of any tobacco products in the past year

Leave Accrual:

Annual Leave: 136 hours/year

Increases with tenure to max of 224 hours/year

Sick Leave: 24 hours/month (288 hours/year)
Educational Leave: 112 hours annually

Florida Fire Officer II: $40/month
Florida Fire Inspector I: $40/month
CPR Instructor: $40/month
Associate’s Degree: $50/month or Bachelor’s Degree: $110/month
