The City of Fairfield is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. A Civil Service exam will be given through the National Testing Network and used as the initial step to establish an Eligibility List. This posting will remain open until the position has been filled.
Applicants must apply online at www.fairfield-city.org and take the NTN test, achieving a passing result, before the application closing date. Applicants will be notified when a closing date has been established and there is a deadline to complete the process.

In accordance with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Officers shall reside within Butler County or any contiguous county in the State of Ohio, (i.e., Preble County, Montgomery County, Warren County, and Hamilton County) as well as in Clermont County.
Department Overview: The Fairfield Police Department consists of 63 sworn officers who respond to more than 30,000 calls for service annually. The members of the Fairfield Police Department are committed to resolving community concerns through effective use of problem-solving and communication skills.
The patrol officers are augmented by an investigations section, full-time school officers, three canine officers, and bike patrol officers. The Fairfield Police Department also has a complement of officers assigned to a regional SWAT and an officer on a regional drug task force.
In addition to sworn personnel, the Fairfield Police Department employs a civilian work force that provides a variety of support services to police officers and the community.
The police department operates out of a modern facility and enjoys outstanding community support.
Area Information: Located in Butler County, about 20 miles north of Cincinnati, the City of Fairfield is home to 44,900 residents. It is situated along the northern loop of I-275, conveniently positioned within minutes of a variety of recreational, cultural and business areas.

Academy Certification: Preferred prior to appointment, but not required. If hired without certification, we will pay the cost of the Academy and pay the employee $3 less per hour than the starting rate of entry-level certified Police Officer.
