Salary Information: $18.45 per hour or $38,376 annually

Department Overview: The Cape Girardeau Police Department has over 80 sworn full-time police officers and is the largest municipal police department between St. Louis and Memphis. Officers receive on-the-job training with opportunities for promotions and specialty positions, such as detective, school resource officer, traffic officer, or K-9 handler.

Age: Must be at least 21 years of age
Citizenship Required: Must be a U.S. citizen
High School Grad/GED: Must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent
Valid MISSOURI Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Applicants must pass a medical exam, which includes a vision test.
College: Not required
Academy Certification: Will need to obtain Missouri POST certification prior to start date
Prior Experience: Not required
Necessary Certifications: Will need to obtain Missouri POST certification prior to start date. Candidates can still apply and participate in the hiring process before their POST certification has been obtained.
Additional Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of the state of Missouri or an adjoining state prior to their start date.
Hiring Process: In addition to the written test, applicants must pass a physical test, oral interview, psychological evaluation, medical examination, pre-employment drug screen and a polygraph examination.
