Preference Points are awarded as follows: Associates Degree: 2 points Bachelor’s Degree: 4 points Military Service Military Service: When an undeleted honorable discharge document (DD214 box 1-30) is submitted with the application, credit will be awarded. After 180 days of active duty service is complete, the applicant rates 1 point for every full year thereafter up to a maximum of 10 points. City Service: 8 points will be granted to current employees in good standing, who have completed all probationary requirements as part-time employees and are moving to full-time status in the same job classification. Under no circumstances will more than 10 points be awarded from one or any combination of the above preference point categories. Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, be free of serious criminal record, possess a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent and be 18 years of age & under 35 years of age before or on the date of appointment. Applicants must possess a current and valid Ohio Paramedic License and an Ohio Firefighters Certificate Level 2
