The Gurnee Fire Department is currently building an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic and has immediate vacancies to be filled from the new list.
The Gurnee Fire Department requires the completion of the NTN FireTeam exam, a CPAT, as well as the department application which can be found HERE.
Starting Salary: $76,263 annual base salary

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEWThe primary mission of the Gurnee Fire Department is to provide a variety of services designed to protect the lives and property of the community we serve by providing prompt and professional services in the event of fire, medical emergencies and disasters or any other event which may threaten the public welfare. The Gurnee Fire Department provides 24 hour fire and rescue services protecting approximately 60,000 residents and businesses in a 30 square mile area with a daytime population in excess of 150,000. In the calendar year 2021, the department responded to 7,227 calls of which approximately one-third were fire and two-thirds were EMS based including rescue calls, car accidents and specialized rescues.

Candidates extended an offer of employment will be subject to post-offer screenings including, but not limited to: polygraph examination, background investigation; psychological evaluation; medical examination; vision screening; and drug screening. Each phase of the process is pass / fail and required to proceed to the next. A FAIL on any post-offer screening will result in a rescinding of the offer of employment and disqualification from further employment consideration.
Completion of the FireTeam Examination and / or Gurnee Firefighter / Paramedic Employment Application is not a guarantee of eligibility to continue in the testing process. Candidates may be disqualified after completion of the test or submission of application for reasons including but not limited to: failure to complete testing / application submission by required deadline; not meeting minimum position qualifications; not meeting minimum passing standards for the examination; missing or incomplete documents; or other disqualifying factors related to Firefighter / Paramedic candidacy or employment.
