Job Classification: Part-time Firefighter/EMT-Basic

Windsor Severance Fire Rescue is currently recruiting for Part-time Firefighter/ EMT-Basic positions. To be considered for further hiring process, all candidates are required to complete the FireTEAM exam, Work Attitudes Questionnaire (WAQ), and Personal History Questionnaire. Candidates MUST also have a valid CPAT certification. All testing and department application packet must be completed by February 22, 2021 at 12pm MDT. Salary Information: $14.28 per hour

Job Requirements

Age: 18

High School Grad/GED: High School Diploma or GED

Valid COLORADO State Driver's License: Valid Colorado Driver’s License

Necessary Certifications:

High school diploma or GED
Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
State of Colorado and/or National Registry EMT-Basic (or higher) certification
State of Colorado Firefighter I certification
State of Colorado Hazmat Operations certification
Current CPR certification (AHA BLS Provider or equivalent)
Current Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) certificate
- CPAT must be presented prior to time of hire
NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800

Schooling Prior and Post Hiring: As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to attend the WSFR Playbook Training Academy March 22, 2021 – April 3,2021. Disqualification from or failure to complete the academy and required certifications may result in termination of the employment.

Application and Testing Process:

Windsor Severance Fire Rescue (WSFR) Employment Application
All candidates are required to submit a WSFR employment application. The application process details and job description may be found at www.wsfr.us.

National Testing Network (NTN) FireTEAM Firefighter Test
All candidates are required to register with the National Testing Network in order to apply. A Work Attitude Questionnaire (WAQ) and FireTeam written exam will be required. The written exam is pass/fail and please note there is a fee for the test. To apply and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com; select Fire and sign up for Windsor Severance Fire Rescue. Tests are offered multiple times a week, including Saturdays. The majority of tests are offered around the Denver metro area. Upon completion of the exam, all candidate scores are forwarded to Windsor Severance Fire Rescue. Candidates who do not receive a passing score will not continue in the hiring process.

Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT)
All candidates must possess a current CPAT certificate prior to time of hire. Windsor Severance Fire Rescue accepts certificates from any testing organization licensed through the IAFF. Please note there is also a fee associated with this test. Additional information on the CPAT and how to obtain a certificate may be found at:

Oral Board and Group Exercise
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements and successfully pass the written exam may be invited to participate in the interview process and group exercise. Oral board interviews and group exercises will be conducted with members of the organization at Windsor Severance Fire Station #1. Candidates who are successful following the interview and group exercises, will be placed on an eligibility list.

Conditional Job Offer:
Conditional offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a formal criminal background check, motor vehicle records reviews, drug screen, and pre-employment physical. Notification will be made either in person or by telephone. Successful candidates will be made an offer and a specific timeline to accept or reject the offer.

Post Hiring Requirements:
All successful candidates will be required to successfully complete the WSFR Playbook Training Academy prior to working online. Shift assignment and operational clearance is contingent upon successful completion of the Playbook Academy. Disqualification from or failure to complete will result in termination of employment.

Eligibility List:
Those who are placed on the eligibility list will remain on the list for one year (with Chief discretion to extend up to an additional six months) or until the exhaustion within the stated time frame. The list will be created based on the results and ranking of the panel interview and group exercises. If utilized for future hiring the appropriate number of applicants will be contacted in order of rank and given a conditional job offer for part-time employment.
