Department Overview: The Coos Bay Police Department is looking for qualified men and women interested in a career in Public Safety Communications. The Communications Center has 9 full-time Dispatchers (Communications Specialists), working a 4 day a week Pitman Schedule. The 911/Dispatchers answer emergency calls from the Cities of Coos Bay and Coquille as well as dispatch for several local Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response units; assist the public by providing a variety of information; and perform a variety of clerical support duties. The Coos Bay Police Department Communications Center offers a comprehensive on-the-job training program. We are seeking individuals who are committed to public safety and possess the desire to work effectively with a team.
Area Information: The City of Coos Bay is located in Coos County which is located along the Southern Oregon Coast.

High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid OREGON State Driver's License: Yes or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Oregon's minimum standards to work as a Tele-communicator and background disqualifiers can be found in OAR 259-008-0011.
College: Not required
Necessary Certifications: Must be able to obtain required state certifications during the probationary period.
