Nye County Sheriff’s Office is hiring lateral and entry level deputies for both detention and patrol all area commands. Central Area Command Includes the towns of Beatty and Amargosa Valley and Is approximately 70 miles north of Pahrump. Northern Area Command includes Tonopah, Smokey Valley, and Gabbs. Tonopah, the county seat, is located approximately 170 miles north of Pahrump. Both of these areas offer close knit communities, quieter living than the hustle and bustle of the city as well as extensive outdoor activities such as ATV, hiking, and hunting. Southern area command includes Pahrump. Note: Demand for Pahrump positions is high. Applicants willing to accept positions in outlying areas have a greater chance of being chosen
The Nye County Sheriff’s Office offers paid training and full benefits including medical, dental, vision, uniform allowance, take home car, paid vacation and sick leave. Starting pay is $18.71 per hour with up to 8% pay raise to $20.23 per hour by the first year. Pay increases approximately 4% every year after that. Nye County Sheriff’s Office also offers longevity pay and incentives for college and advanced training and experience. On top of this, Nye County Sheriff’s Office has incentive pay for special assignments such as investigator, K9, SWAT, Filed Trainer and more.

Testing includes a physical fitness test, written test, and oral interviews.
Written testing is conducted by National Testing Network. National Testing Network requires you to take the proctored test at one of their certified testing locations in Reno or Las Vegas. Visit their website, www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, for locations near you and additional information.

Physical fitness testing will be held in Pahrump September 15 and September 18 at 0700 sharp. That testing will be held at the Pahrump Valley High School. 501 E Calvada Blvd, Pahrump, NV 89048. Physical fitness testing in Tonopah will take place Wednesday Sept 16th at 0800. The location will be the Tonopah High school, #1 Tenant Lane, Tonopah, NV 89048. You must bring a picture ID with you at the time of testing. Physical fitness requirements are below.
Oral Interviews will be held in Pahrump, Thursday Sept 24, 2020 beginning at 0800. Oral Interviews will also be held in Tonopah Wednesday Sept 16, 2020 beginning at 1100. Appointment times and location will be provided to applicants who pass all other testing.
All applicants are subject to a stringent background investigation.
The Nye County Sheriff’s Office anticipates an academy to begin early January 2021 for those entry level applicants who are successful in all other areas of testing. For qualified lateral applicants successful in testing, hiring dates will vary.
