Coos Bay Fire Department is currently hiring for Firefighter / Engineer. FireTEAM testing must be completed by the close date, June 18, 2021.

Salary Information: $4,966 - $6,339 per month
Benefit Information: Employees work in a strong team-oriented environment and receive a generous employee benefit package which includes time off in lieu of holidays accruing at the rate of twelve hours per month of service, life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, long term disability, medical, dental and vision insurance, and retirement through the Public Employees Retirement System. The City pays 90% of the medical and dental insurance premium for the employee and their family.

Department Overview: In addition to responding to approximately 3,700 emergency requests for assistance annually, the department provides a number of proactive services including fire and safety inspections, emergency planning (disaster), consultative services and educational programs for the general public and business community. The department provides services to the City of Coos Bay as well as contracted fire and medical service to Timber Park, Libby and Bunker Hill Fire Protection Districts, encompassing an area of 17 square miles and a population of approximately 23,000.

College: An Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is desirable.

Hiring Process: Applicants must complete the National Testing Network Fire Team test by 5:00 p.m. June 18, 2021 as specified in the job announcement. All applicants will be notified of the final status of their application. Proof of successful completion of a professionally recognized physical abilities test is required at the June 18, 2021 deadline.
Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Must be able to pass background investigation, obtain DPSST certifications, and maintain Oregon EMT status
