Salary Information: Entry Level Police Officer: $27.14/Hour to start

Department Overview: The Police Department emphasizes a high level of professionalism and visibility. Officers provide all law enforcement functions at PDX. Officers also provide for the security of the airport, which includes security patrols of the airport perimeter, enforcement of the airport´s security plan and access systems, participation in intelligence networks, and support of the FBI, TSA, and U.S. Customs security functions. Officers are normally assigned to foot patrol within the airport terminal or to vehicle patrol on the public roadways and non-public airfield perimeter. Officers are required to respond to a variety of emergency situations, some of which may be life-threatening in nature. Age: Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.
US Citizen: Yes
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid OREGON State Driver's License: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Oregon or Washington State driver's license by hire date.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes.
Vision: Vision requirements must meet Oregon DPSST Standards.
College: (2 or 4 year preferred).
Prior Experience: Prior experience in security operations, law enforcement, or a private security settings is preferred.
Necessary Certifications: Valid ORPAT must be taken prior to application. The Port of Portland will reimburse candidates selected for employment.
Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors: Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers
At a minimum, candidates must be able to meet the Oregon DPSST standards for employment for a law enforcement officer.
Candidates must pass all medical, physical, written, oral and psychological evaluations.
