Department Overview: The Violet Township Fire Department provides professional emergency medical and fire service utilizing a combination of full-time, paid part-time, and volunteer firefighters. This enables us to provide the staffing necessary to serve our community. Your fire department currently staffs three strategically located stations 24-hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year. We have a fleet of vehicles, including four medics, three engines, a heavy rescue, one grass truck, Battalion vehicle, assistant chief's vehicle, and a chief's vehicle. ALL of our equipment is capable of providing Advanced Life Support to deal with any crisis or emergency. The Violet Township Fire Department responds to more than 45,000 fire and emergency medical calls each year.
Area Information: The Violet Township/Pickerington area is situated in the northwestern corner of Fairfield County in Ohio. It is bordered to the west by Ohio’s largest city, Columbus. The Township is comprised of 42 square miles that includes all or part of three cities: Pickerington, Reynoldsburg and Canal Winchester. There is easy access to two major freeways, Interstate 70 and U.S. 33. Some of the area highlights include: Quality education and healthcare• Violet Township features several different public school systems, a branch of Ohio University, and is within driving distance of other higher education institutions. Residents can access world-class medical care and physicians in our area, and there are many award-winning hospitals and medical centers easily accessible.Diverse recreational options• Violet Township has parks and trails to explore including a nearby 18-hole golf course, a skate park, a senior center, Pickerington Public Library, and a historical society. A large organized youth sports program is available through the PYAA. The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum is also located in Violet Township.Vibrant shopping and dining options• There are many places to shop and dine in Violet Township from destination shopping to boutique shops and Olde Village Pickerington Shops. Local restaurateurs offer a variety of dining options as well. A safe place to live• Neighborhood Scout analyzed FBI crime statistics for all cities and towns in America with a similar population size to Pickerington, and we found that the crime rate in Pickerington is one of the lowest in the nation for its size.

Necessary Certifications:
Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Background must be free of prior felony convictions and/or any conviction involving crimes of moral turpitude.
Driving Disqualifiers: Inability to be insured by the Township’s liability and vehicle insurance carrier(s).
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Use of illegal substances or violation of Township policies and procedures regarding substance abuse.
Employment Disqualifiers: Considered on a case-by-case basis.
Financial Disqualifiers: Considered on a case-by-case basis.
