Job: Firefighter
The department has an ongoing eligibility list. Candidates on the list are eligible for 12 months and are considered for any opening during that time.
Salary Information: $5,655/mo - Step 1 Benefit Information: This position is represented by IAFF (Local 2903), LEOFF Retirement. District-provided benefits include generous medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage for employee and dependents consistent with current District programs. {Please note: Lacey Fire District Three does not participate in the Social Security retirement program.} Department Overview: Since 1948, Lacey Fire District Three has been providing services to the community, with a population of 85,000 and an area of approximately 70 square miles in northeast Thurston County between the Nisqually River and the City of Olympia. We serve roughly 32% of Thurston County’s population and protect over 9 million in assessed valuation. We provide fire and life safety response from five stations strategically located throughout the district; four of these stations are staffed 24-hours per day. We use a 24 hrs on/48 hrs off rotation with three shifts, each carrying an average of 26 full-time career emergency responders (firefighters, line officers, and firefighter/paramedics) and a cadre of volunteer firefighters. These emergency responder personnel provide our external services – fire and rescue response, basic and advanced life support response, special operations response (static water, low-angle and rope rescue technical rescue), fire investigation, inspections and community education. In 2012, our operating budget is $14.1 million. That amount is distributed into wages & benefits (91%), supplies (2%), Capital equipment and improvements (1%) and Intergovernmental/other services (6%). Population: Approximately 85,000
Call Volume: In 2011, LFD3 responded to 10,653 calls for service -- 76% EMS, 2% Fire, 22% Other

Age: 21 years of age or older at time of application to agency.
US Citizen: US Citizen or documentation of eligibility for employment in U.S.
High School Grad/GED: High School Grad/GED.
Valid WASHINGTON State Driver's License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
College: 2 or 4 year degree desired
Prior Experience: Yes
CPAT Required: Yes
Schooling Prior and Post Hiring: AA/AS Degree in Fire Science or BA/BS in any field or One year active service as a responder in a fire service agency.
Driving Disqualifiers:
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Must pass drug testing.
Necessary Certifications:
IFSAC Firefighter I, Haz Mat Ops, current WA State or NREMT, current CPAT
Additional Requirements: Must pass Fit-For-Duty medical and psychological examinations.
