Hiring Process: Prospective candidates, please read the following directions and hiring steps carefully as they outline the hiring process in its entirety.
If you affiliated your FireTEAM/National Testing Network test scores with Eagle River Fire within the last year, you will need to send an email to ERFPDHiring@eagleriverfire.org stating your intent to be part of the hiring process again. Failure to notify ERPFD via email of your intent to partake in the hiring process will result in your name and scores being removed from our list.
If you would like to try and improve your scores, you can do so every 90 days through National Testing Network. If you have not taken the FireTEAM test, please refer to step 2 for directions.
Step 1: CPAT
Candidates are required to have a CPAT certificate that is valid through at least 05/20/2021. If you do not have a valid CPAT certificate you will need to obtain one by 05/20/2021. Aims Community College is hosting the CPAT test on 05/20/2021, but space is limited so register ASAP to secure your spot – see http://www.aims.edu/academics/fire-science/cpat/ for details. You can get your CPAT from any agency; however, it must be an accredited test. Please check with the agency providing the test.

Step 2: Fire Team Test
Candidates are required to take the FireTEAM test no later than 05/20/2021 with National Testing Network. You can take the FireTEAM test at a number of different testing centers across the United States on various dates. In order to take the FireTEAM test you must visit their website, identify a testing center near you and register to take the test. Space is limited so please don’t delay and register ASAP at:
FireTEAM scores are valid for up to one year. If you have taken your FireTEAM test prior to ERFPD opening the hiring process, please login to your FireTEAM account and add ERFPD to permit us to view your FireTEAM score no later than 05/20/2021.

All candidates must complete the following sections of their NTN profile/account prior to the test deadline: PHQ/application and certifications/documents upload (Firefighter I, Haz Mat Ops, EMT-B, Driver's License). ERFPD will pull your FireTEAM test scores following the 05/20/2021 test deadline.
Certifications will be accepted through May 25th but all other documents (i.e. FireTeam Test, Drivers License, CPAT) due May 20th.
Step 3: Application
A limited number of candidates will be invited to the application process based on their FireTEAM test scores and certification uploads. Candidates should expect a response via email from the department no later than 05/28/2021. Selected candidates will be invited to submit an electronic application, cover letter, resume, and three letters of recommendation for review. The deadline for submitting these materials is 06/04/2021. Once these materials have been reviewed, the candidate will be contacted via email to schedule the oral interview date and time.
Step 4: Oral Interview
Candidates that successfully complete the application process will be invited to the district for an oral interview on 06/21/2021 or 06/22/2021. Once interviews are complete, successful candidates will be placed on a hiring list and contacted directly to setup a Chief’s interview.
Step 5: Chief’s Interview & Ride Along
Based on the oral interview performance, candidates may be placed on a hiring list. The top candidates will be scheduled for a Chief’s interview and/or ride along, date to be determined.
