NTN Tests Emergency Communications Testing ECOMM is a testing system designed for emergency communications. ECOMM has three modules: CallTaker Video Test, CallTaker Notes Test and Dispatcher Test. All three modules are highly job-related. ECOMM requires quick and accurate assessment of difficult and evolving situations. Testing takes approximately 3 hours. ECOMM CallTaker Video Test This video-based exam portrays a variety of emergency calls. Each call is taken to a critical decision point where candidates must decide what would be best to do or say. This test is designed to measure: Listening and Communications Skills Dealing with Difficult and Stressful Situations Multi-Tasking Analysis, Prioritization and Problem Solving Public Relations Internal Relations Responsibility for Officer Safety Team Relations All information that may be needed to answer a question is provided in the test. ECOMM is not designed to be a test of policy or technical components and candidates are asked to only know what is stated during the video. ECOMM CallTaker Notes Test Note taking along with the video-based exam. This test is designed to measure: Multi-Tasking Recording Accuracy Attention to Detail ECOMM Dispatcher Test The Dispatcher module is a video-animated simulation designed to assess a candidates ability to understand complex, changing circumstances. Candidates analyze maps with moving cars, radio transmissions and changing status screens. At key points candidates are asked to dispatch calls. This test is designed to measure: Multi-Tasking Analysis and Problem Solving Following Directions and Prioritization There is no practice test for ECOMM.
